Welcome, Martha, to the WIGenWeb from the western part of the state. My
name is Nance and I have hosted the Washburn County WIGenWeb since 1997,
Eau Claire Co. since 1998 and Trempealeau Co. since 2000. I'm not very
active anymore, but I still love genealogy and have been focusing on
building my own family tree lately, with almost 11,000 relatives so far,
and looking for more. Many of my ancestors came from the counties that I'm
hosting. I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life except for a 4 year stint
after I married and moved to the very northern part of Illinois, close
enough to see Wisconsin, but paid taxes to Illinois. Couldn't take the
temptation anymore so we moved north again! I've lived in Washburn Co. for
over 40 years, but Geez Louise, if it keeps snowing like it has been, I'm
tempted to move south again! Missouri sounds nice!
Have fun and it's nice to meet you,
Nance

Good Morning,
Thankyou for the welcome.
Some of you will recognize me from other States and Counties - so you
know who I am.
For the others, I will share a bit of USGW and personal history. I was a
long time SC for California and host for my home County of San Luis
Obispo. Having family in a variety of States has been a lot of fun and
learning more about the areas through hosting Counties and answering
questions still brings excitement after all these years. I host Counties
and Towns in Missouri, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Vermont, Oregon and
Pennsylvania and now Wisconsin.
I have been retired from Retail [Thrifty [Rite Aid] for 15 years, so
have a whole lot of time to devote to both my personal research and
helping others. I was very active in our local Gen Soc and was a Gen
Librarian for a good long time. Also served as Project Chair, finding,
recording and preserving local historical and genealogical data for the
County.
Top it all off with a bent for Tech stuff and you have a mature [just
had my 80th B'Day] gal who loves research and enjoys web work and wants
to stay involved with 'like minded folk'.
Happy to be a part of the WIGenWeb!
Martha
