Thanks Tina for the heads up. It is a great new addition.
For Wisconsin families of that time - a good portion of the folks listed
didn't come back home. I've heard from other sources that Wisconsin
regiments had the highest causalities of at least the Northern states.
As a Southerner, I chuckle over the term - 'War of the Rebellion', as we
see it much differently.

Hi all,
A new statewide resource to consider for your county pages!
Tina

Tina or Tim,
Thought you'd want to help us spread the good news:
Researchers can now browse the Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, War of the
Rebellion, 1861-1865 on the web site of the State Historical Society of
Wisconsin. The Roster, published in 1886 and its index, published in 1914,
include all of the soldiers known to have participated in Wisconsin's Civil
War regiments.
This is a graphic reproduction of the original book, so the text is not
keyword searchable.
But you can:
- Browse the Alphabetical Index of Soldier's Surnames
- Browse the Regiment Listings
- Browse the Books
There are direct links to individual companies within regiments, so you can
go directly to the pertinent pages without having to go through irrelevant
pages.
NOTE: This resource requires a browser that is capable of displaying frames.
This includes all Netscape browsers and Internet Explorer 3.0 and above.
Adobe Acrobat is required to print single page images.
See the Roster at <

Sincerely,
Dee Anna Grimsrud
