Subject: MIDWEST ONLINE - requesting links for future online issues
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit
Hi all,
My name is Belinda Forgy, and in addition to hosting two USGenWeb county
project sites, I am co-webmaster of an online e-zine, Midwest Online.
We
would like to enlist your aid in reaching the county coordinators of
your
states. We have a section on Midwest Online that is geared toward
genealogical research. In each issue we strive to bring information to
our visitors that they may not find in some of the big search engines,
and that is exclusive to the Midwest. You can check out our e-zine at
http://www.midwestonline.com
Our genealogical section's URL changes each issue, but the current issue
can be found at:
http://www.midwestonline.com/19990307_genealogy.html
And past issues can be found at:
http://www.midwestonline.com/archives.html
In the next four or five issues, we'd like to let our visitors know of
county and/or state genealogical sites that have certain records
online.
We do a lot of our own research here at Midwest Online, and we've found
several sites with the information we'd like to feature, but some
counties
aren't always listed with sites like
CyndisList.com, so we'd like to
extend the offer to sites that are basically "hidden".
If any county/state site has the following free information online, we
are
requesting that the coordinator email us with a link to their site that
we can include in the next four or five issues of Midwest Online. We're
looking for marriage records, newspaper extracts, land records, and
family histories that are not on biography boards. We'd be interested
in
anything "unusual" about the history of any county!
While Midwest Online has a growing audience, we have not overloaded any
site with so many visits that it crashes a server or hogs additional
bandwidth that might have to be paid for. We are not a genealogical
site, but hope to help promote and support genealogy online.
Our next issue is scheduled to go live on Mar. 17, 1999, and we're
hoping
to release a new issue every 7 to 14 days thereafter. We will try to
include as many sites as possible in each issue, so while there's not a
deadline, we'd like to know soon who would like to be included so we can
try to even out the sites over the next 4 or 5 issues.
Thanks for your time,
Belinda Forgy
