Robin, It looks like a lot of people didn't vote!!! How many counties do
we have, compared to county coordinators?
Also, I just downloaded CC Helper and am wondering if any of the Wisconsin
County Coordinators uses it and would like to walk me through it. Yes, I am
subscribed to CC Help Mail List, but have found from past experience, that
the users are far to advanced and have no patience with those of use who are
computer-literate-handicapped... (grin) I don't want to turn this into a
bashing contest, but sincerely would like some information sent to my
private email, so as not to embarrass myself any further with my lack of
knowledge. So many people talk about CC Helper like it is a household word,
but not in my house. (BIG GRIN - my cats can't even spell computer!!!)
Thanks in advance... R/S MAK Wood County Coordinator

Ummm....errrr.....Houston, we have a problem......
The votes on the following are in and the final tally is:
Yes - 11 No - 11
On that note I think that due to the fact that we already have a WI/MI
mailing list for the general public, we will keep this one private, for
county coordinator use.

Greetings!
I recieved the following and thought we should all have a say, instead of
my making the decision for everybody. This from my fellow staff member, GFS
JohnF, on AOL who maintains a list of all the different mailing lists at
his Genealogy Resources on the Internet website:
http://users.aol.com/johnf14246/gen_mail.html

"BTW, any interest in having an entry for the WIGEN list? Even though the
USGenWeb state mailing lists are principally for the County Coordinators,
some of the State Coordinators have opened them up to the public for
limited queries (general ones, not "Anyone know about my grandpa?"). It
seems to be running about 50-50 on advertising or not advertising these
lists. If you are interested, I could use something like the following:
"WIGEN-L. A mailing list (part of the USGenWeb Project) for discussing the
creation of a single source for all Wisconsin genealogy databases. While
the principal focus of the list is discussions among the Wisconsin GenWeb
County Coordinators, the list is also open to the public for general
queries (e.g., help in finding map locations, cemeteries, etc.). Postings
related to specific surname searches are beyond the scope of the list
(individuals seeking information on Wisconsin or specific Wisconsin
counties can use the Wisconsin GenWeb Project Homepage at
http://www.usgenweb.org/wi to find information, links, or contacts to aid
in their research). Mailing address for postings is wigen-l(a)rootsweb.com.
To subscribe send the word "subscribe" (without the quotes) as the only
text in the body of a message to wigen-l-request(a)rootsweb.com (mail mode)
or wigen-d-request(a)rootsweb.com (digest mode)."

Ok, the voting is as follows:
Yes, to advertise the list and open it to the public.
No, to not advertise the list.
I'll keep the polls open until Dec. 1
