Hello Everyone,
First of all I would like to say that I am thankful to all the
other CCs that visited my Rock county site and gave suggestions
and input. I am also happy for the oppertunity to have helped
those that requested it from me.
As I have always believed, a team effort is the best solution
for anything we try to conquer, and I believe WI has one of the
best (if not the BEST) team in all of USGenWeb. As a team I see
nothing we can't succeed at.
After the letter from our ASC Robin asking for Volunteers for SC
I decide to ask around and see if anyone was really interested in
doing something different.
With this in mind I am proposing something that may be new to
the USGenWeb project and even new to some of us.
I am proposing that instead of an individual person being the SC
and an individual person being the A SC, that we have a team of
people, two or three, as each of these positions. This way, no
one person has to carry the whole work load, or be the master
mind behind all decisions. Also this way if one of the team needs
a vacation, there will be someone readily available to carry on
in their absence. I am only half of the team that makes up the
Rock county CC position and I can tell you, by having another
person on the team with me to help on all items, it is truely a
valued asset.
I believe I have found an outstanding team for the WI SC
position. My proposal to you for this is. Robin Helman (our
acting SC and fellow CC), Tina Vickery (Temporary file Manager of
the WI Archives and CC for 3 Maine counties, Kennebec, Somerset,
and Hancock and also the NE/NC County Coordinator
Representative.), and Kelly Mullins, (Assistant Coordinator of
the USGenWeb Archives Census Project, CC of 2 CA counties, Glenn
& Humboldt). I have spoken with Tina and Kelly and both are
really happy to become part of the team with Robin, if she wishes
for this to happen. Then we (the WI CCs and the SC team) can pick
a team of two or three volunteers to become the new ASC team for
WI.
Think of it, we have the ability at our fingertips to become
more then any USGenWeb state has become before by using what is
already known to be the best tool in anything we do - TEAM
EFFORT.
I am asking for each of the CCs to think this over and please
openly discuss it here on the forum so all can share in it.
Also on I propse that each SC of the team be kept up to date on
info that all CCs using Rootsweb have - like their URLs and their
passwords for these URLs - this way if a CC drops out for any
reason, the SC team can quickly and effortlessly take charge and
continue their work without the hassle of moving it or reloading
it all.
Well enough of my soap box speaches. Please think of what I am
proposing and tell me you thoughts as Tina and Kelly are both
waiting for an answer from the WI Team of CCs.
Thank you,
JT Kelley
