Tried to send this out last night, and it came back with a protocol error, so
I'm trying again.

Subject: WI GenWeb Archives - weekly update
Send reply to: gonfishn(a)millcomm.com
Copies to: wi-archivist-l(a)rootsweb.com
Priority: normal
It was suggested on the archives mail list that a weekly update be sent to
the CCs so they know what's happening the archives for the state.
I hope that you are all aware that the US GenWeb archives now has over
850M of data. However, WI isn't ranking too high amonst the states as far
as Mb of data in the archives. We've currently got a little over 6.7M.
With Manitowoc County the leader at about 2.6M. Marquette is a distant
second with 1.8M.
Primarily, the Tombstones Project has been making major advances with lots
of new files hitting the archives. I can't tell you specifically which
counties because I started the major task of making sure that I had copies
of all the files that are in the archives. So, my zip drive has almost
everything with a date of today! <g> Starting next week, I'll be able to
let you know specifically which counties (if any) received new files.
Over the summer, there were contributions to:
Taylor County
State wide death index
Two ship passenger lists (with the promise of more)
State wide birth index
I'll try to discover the additions in all the counties each week, but
since I'm not personally managing them all, I may miss a few things.
Let me know if you have suggestions for better communication between the
archives volunteers and the project volunteers. Also, if you've got any
ideas for how to beef up the archives, that would be welcome too.
