Clare-
I no longer have the query pages or surname list on the actual web pages I
use the Rootsweb messgae boards for that - but in the beginning when I had
them on the Waupaca site, I also felt it was up to the submitter to notify
me to change it etc and that is how I handle it today for the other pages
that I have submitter emails on.

How do people handle out of date email addresses on their surname or query
pages? So far I have only changed addresses when someone notified my that
their address had changed, and have not tried to check addresses to make
sure they were current. But every now and then another researcher tries to
contact someone without success.
