I have been contacted by the Wisconsin State Historical Society
about this very fine collection. Please take a look if you have
family connections for Oconto County in WWII. The only other county
collections available to the archives is for Racine, making this a
rare opportunity. Photos and record data on the female and male vets
is available. Take a peek! Rita - Oconto County:
"My name is Virginia Fritzsch and I am a Public Records Archivist
with
the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Last spring I processed
a
wonderful collection of records and photos from the Oconto County
War
Commission. Most of the collection is data sheets and photos of
WWII
service people. To publicize the collection, we put some
information
and a selection of photos on our web site.
These records are at our Area Research Center at UW-Green Bay. I
received your name from the UW-Green Bay ARC director, Deb Anderson,
that you are the webmaster for the Oconto County Gen Web site. I
thought that you might want to post our publicity article on your
web
site too. It is a great resource for genealogists searching for
information on their WWII veteran ancestors. We want researchers to
use this re-disovered treasure!"
