Kelly, I really like the organization of your pages. Just wanted to say "Great
job". I tried the Pico Search thingee and to my dismay, none of mine were
there (grin). R/S MAK

Subject: [WIGEN-L] PicoSearch in Action
Having time to sit here and fiddle this morning, I decided to finally try
out the PicoSearch on my Monroe Co., OH page... which is a 54 page
inheritance --most of the pages being badly organized queries very loosely
separated into pages by date, many of them up to 20k. The dates don't even
seem to reflect the queries themselves, and since 3 different people worked
on it, there are 3 different organizations started and never finished. I
probably don't even want to know the total count of queries. One elusive
page still goes to the "Query Express" and I can't even find that puppy
after serious searching... so how visitors seem to find it around the GC
Boards, I have no clue. So, the queries keep building at quite an astounding
rate.
My point being... to see PicoSearch in serious action, try
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohmonroe/ and go to the search on the bottom.
"Jones" is a good keyword candidate. It shows you all of the pages your
search word resides on, with a tiny blurb to get your bearings. It was easy
to use, and I would pay for this free service. They don't inundate you with
advertisements and tacky graphics, making you cringe every time you look at
your page.
I probably wouldn't bother on a page that doesn't have a lot of internal
data, but for these queries... which I feel belong to the visitors, it would
be a crime for them to remain unuseable. I will probably cut all the pages
down to a downloadable size (10-12k) and de-link the existing (awful) query
index and use this search exclusively.
Good deal Tim, thanks.
Kelly
