It seems as if I haven't been in as much communication with all of you
since last fall. In looking back, I can see one of the reasons why, so
I thought I'd give you a run-down of what my 'typical' week is like here
on the WIGenWeb project (that is, between making an emergency run to the
vet that is 40 miles away with a sick dog, doing the regular household
chores [yuk!], going into the hospital with kidney stones and other
stuff). Anyway, here is what was done this past week on the websites
that I cover:

I was also able to add some of my own information in the form of
Township Histories to our Communities page at

include the townships of Cedar Lake
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wibarron/communities/cedarlaketownship.htm

This coming week promises to be equally as good, in that Linda Mott has
donated some Township Census records for 1880 and 1900.

BURNETT CO.,
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiburnet/
Judy Ludden donated several obituaries to our Burnett Co. GenConnect
Obit Board and also to the Archives, including:
LAWRENCE, Agabelle, Rusk Township
CORNELISON, Lucy F., Rusk Township
I also added the new category of "Histories" <
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiburnet/histories/histories.htm > and will be
adding to that every week until I run out of materials. This week's
items include a foreword or introduction to the county's history:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiburnet/histories/foreward.htm
A history of the Village of Alpha:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiburnet/histories/alpha.htm
and a history of the Township of Blaine:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiburnet/histories/blaine.htm There's much more
to come here and as the summer months start kicking in, the Burnett Co.
Historical Society ladies will once again be walking the cemeteries and
gleaning more information to be added to our growing list of completed
cemeteries. It promises to be a busy time.

EAU CLAIRE CO. -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wieaucla/eauclair.htm
This site has kept me busy for a long time, and this week proved to be
no different. Kent Robarge donated 34 obituaries to the GenConnect Obit
board (these were added by me as this board is a "closed" board) along
with adding them to the Archives section as well. There is alot here
and I wonder whether it's necessary to put all the links. I guess it
would be better if I just listed the surnames involved with these
obits. They include: AUER, BETZ, BRYCE, FOLTZ, HAYES, HELWIG,
LEINENKUGEL, SPEHLE, and WINTER. If you would like to see the full
names of these (many surnames had multiple listings), check it out here:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wi/eauclaire/obits.htm - just look for
the little "new" icon.
Several biographies were also added to the GenConnect Bio Board and the
Archives, including:
BROWN, Bernard J., Augusta
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/eauclaire/biographies/brownbej.txt
(this one donated by S. J. Schwarze), and
THOMAS, F. N., Augusta -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/eauclaire/biographies/thomasfn.txt
(from some of my collection)
More surnames were added to our Surnames page
http://users.rootsweb.com/~wieaucla/ecsurnam.htm and I revamped the
Drammen Lutheran Church page
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wieaucla/churchrecords/drammen.htm
Eau Claire Co. abounds with lots of wonderful history and as time
permits, I'm working on getting alot of it on in both the main section
and in the Archives.

SAWYER CO. --
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/
Sawyer Co. is a tough website to maintain, in that there is not alot of
historical information available. There were no large county histories
written for this county in the early part of the 1900s as with other
counties, and only in the last 40 or 50 years has anyone taken the time
to really write any histories, and of course those are all copyrighted.
So I'm doing what I can with what I can find that's useable. This week
Pam Long donated several great photos for our Photo Album located at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/photoalbum.htm. The photos that Pam
donated include:
The John Thompson family -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/photoalbum.htm# and
the Thompson children -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/photoalbum.htm#
While working on this section, I decided it needed a face lift. The old
pages were loading so slowly with all the photos that were on each page,
so I thought I'd try something different and now all the photos are in
Pop-up window form. I'm not sure if the above links for the photos will
work, as this is still new to me, but it sure was fun experimenting with
it!
Also I've started adding the 1885 Wisconsin State Census for Sawyer Co.
to the site -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/census/1885census.htm .
This week's addition is for the Village of Hayward -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wisawyer/census/1885hayward.htm
And we'll keep plugging away at this one.

TREMPEALEAU CO. -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~witrempe/
When I first took over this site, I thought it was going to be another
quiet and short-on-info site. Boy, was I wrong. Just in the few months
that I've had this site, I've had some great volunteers step forward
with some wonderful information, including our very own Joan Benner, CC
of Adams Co. This week's donation was from Merideth Morgan who found 10
super photos in an antique shop in the Twin Cities. She scanned them
and sent them to me to be viewed (and hopefully claimed by their
rightful owners) on the Trempealeau Co. site. And the pop-up window
system worked so well with the Sawyer Co. site, that I continued doing
the same with the Trempealeau Co. site -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~witrempe/photos/photoindex.htm
I am also busy adding histories to this site from the old book "History
of Trempealeau County Wisconsin, 1917" -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~witrempe/histories/histories.htm
This week's story was "The History of the Black River Valley" <
http://www.rootsweb.com/~witrempe/histories/brvhistory.htm > This
history included some notable names which were also found in the same
book in the biographies section, so I typed them up and linked them from
this page. These biographies were added to the GenConnect Bio Board and
also to the Trempealeau Co. Archives:
BEARDSLEY, Bostwick, Caledonia Township -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/beardslb.txt
HOLMES, Charles Francis, Caledonia Township -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/holmescf.txt
LADD, Lorenzo D., Galesville -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/laddlord.txt
LADD, Moses E., Whitehall -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/laddmose.txt
NICHOLLS, William Sr., Caledonia Township -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/nicholws.txt
RHODES, Joshua, Caledonia Township -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/trempealeau/biographies/rhodesjo.txt
There's lots more to come from this county, so if you have an interest
here, this is one to keep an eye on!

WASHBURN CO.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashbu/
This site has been around for a long time, and as with the Sawyer Co.
site, there isn't alot of historical info that can be used because there
were no old histories written up. But I've plugged along with this one
since 1997 and it has slowly and steadily grown.
This week's new additions include: a newspaper story donated by Faith
Yeager to our "Newspaper Stories" section (really original name, huh?
:~) ). Faith has donated other stories and photos to this section and
has done a wonderful job.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashbu/newspaperstories/kinneyyeager.htm
I also have been getting the cooperation of the editor of the local
newspaper to let me post these old stories as I find them in the old
newspapers.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashbu/newspaperstories/newspaperstories.htm
Several obits were added to the GenConnect Obit board along with the
Archives for this county <
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wi/washburn/wash.htm > including:
BUNDERMAN, Anna (Bonk), Casey Township (donated by Judy Ludden) -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/washburn/obituaries/bunderab.txt
BUTENHOFF, Gustave H. W. Sr., Earl (donated by Don Hansen) -
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/washburn/obituaries/butengus.txt
- a funny story on this one. My girlfriend and I are going through the
old newspapers and building an index of obituaries from 1925 through
1950. We found this one, sent it to Don who lives in California, whose
wife is related to the Butenhoffs of Earl. Don then proceded to turn
around and send it back to me for use on the website. So when they say
what goes around, comes around - believe it!
And finally for the Washburn Co. Photo Album. Ron Jost of Iowa sent
some great photos of his family in Earl, along with a picture of an old
schoolhouse that I've never seen before. These have been added to the
Washburn Co. WIGenWeb site and are a very welcome addition! And, yes,
while I was at it, I revamped this photo album too! Take a look at
these pages: People Pics -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashbu/peoplepics.htm and
Place Pics -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashbu/placepics.htm (I'll be
working on revamping the Tombstone photos sometime in the near future.

I hope I haven't bored you all, but wanted to share with you what my
typical week is like. With summer coming on, I may not be as busy on
the websites as I usually try to use these months for gleaning more
information to be added over the winter months. With six counties, I
work on one county per day and take Sundays off (hey, even the Lord took
one day off -- besides, my husband likes to see my face and not just my
back :~) ) So if you don't see me participating in the chat room or on
this list as I should, I hope you will understand and know that I am
with you in thought. Every congratulation, every new member, every sad
parting is noted by me in my mind. I'm just lax in getting the words
out to you all. For that I'm sorry.
Take care and have a great week and a great summer everyone! And my
apologies for being so 'blabby' today!
