Hi Nance & Anne,
I agree with Anne completely. You didn't say anything nasty in
your note and personally I believe we are here to assist other researchers
with their family lines. I personally have a problem with the people who
request help from us, only to financially enrich themselves on E-bay, alot
of times without so much as a thank you back to you for your time.
In my opinion, that isn't what USGenWeb or WIGenWeb is all about,
but that is just my opinion. There is a difference in assisting a
researcher who certainly would appreciate your time, effort and energy in
the help you have given, as opposed to what we can assume is someone
looking to take this same time, effort and energy to assure a sale. You
know, if this person really wanted to get this back to the person's family,
they could do like the one lady did with Calumet county. They would ask to
have a notice placed on the website stating they have this and would like
to see it returned to the person's family. In other words, if anyone is
researching this line, please contact them to obtain this piece of
information. I think it is obvious to all of us that the person who
contacted you are looking for detailed information to help them in selling
this item on E-bay or something similar.

Nance,
I find nothing wrong with the reply you sent to the list -- you worded it
better than I would have....
And as a seller up on ebay, I can appreciate every word you've written and
should you run across your description in their ad, you have grounds to
have it
removed if you did not give your permisiion...
And if someone was kind enough to research an item I know little about and
give me a great push/market for the item, I'd pay... and that's not something
that has to do with GenWeb... you can still charge for "personal research" in
your private life... the more the seller knows about an item, the broader the
range of prospective buyers... and so you've just increased the FMV...
My two cents..
