Linda,
I'm the admin to the Eau Claire Co. message board and also the mail
list for that county. I remember seeing your announcement come
through my notifications for the board and thought it was an excellent
message - very informative for those interested in Norwegian research.
I just looked at the Eau Claire Co. board and see that an
announcement dated June 16th titled "Attention Norwegian-Americans!"
is at the top of the board's list, so who ever removed your posting
from the other boards, missed the EC one! I also see that you have
unsubbed from the mail list. Please feel free to resubscribe any time
you have an announcement, such as this one was. I am on your side and
do not know how anyone could think that the information you provided
was spam or anything at all negative to the genealogical community.
Just wanted you to know...
Hi Linda and Genie,
I saw the original post and did not even wonder for a second as I have had
dealings with Bunads (my last name is a give away). When it was mentioned
that the posts had been removed I noted it was no longer there and I did not
remove it.
It is a wonderful way to share the culture with each other... heck I get off
on telling people that the only proper lefsa is made with old potatoes,
where you have to cut out the black - this is because the potato is sweeter, the
starches having turned to sugar on their way to vodka.... My grand mother
always treasured these potatoes and planned out how to ripen them up a bit in
the cellar.
The Bunads are not trying to make money, it is an act of keeping ones head
up above the water... besides the Son's of Norway do have to pay for that
float ;)
