Subject: {not a subscriber} County Message Boards
Dear Wigen list,
About 2 weeks ago I posted a message to many of the county message boards
around Eau Claire county. I see today that most of those messages have
been deleted ... by either the administrator or Rootsweb ... it was
removed from my own county of Dunn and I know I didn't do it.
I believe that people in western Wisconsin and perhaps other counties in
the state may find this conference of interest. It will take place in Eau
Claire. Feel free to send this on to your mailing lists or post on your
events space if you feel it is relevant to your audience (or if you are
the board administrator, restore the original).
Thanks,
Linda Schwartz

Greetings Norwegian-Americans!
You are invited to learn more about your Norwegian heritage at a special
gathering in August 2006. The combined Norwegian-American organizations of
Gudbrandsdalslaget, Nord Hedmark og Hedemarken Lag and Trønderlag of
America will hold their annual "Tre Lag Stevne" in Eau Claire, Wisconsin
from August 2-5, 2006 at the Plaza Hotel & Suites. The event is open to
the public.
The stevne (gathering) will include genealogy labs and research assistance
with all the resources of the bygdelags (organizations): books, films,
maps, family histories. Six genealogy classes will also be offered.
There will be multiple seminars on genealogical, cultural and historical
Norwegian-American topics. The program includes a tour to settlement areas
of Norwegian emigrants in Trempealeau County, a visit to the Chippewa
Valley Museum and Paul Bunyan Logging Camp, Norwegian food and music.
Keynote speaker, local historian Dick Feeney, will tell us about the
Norwegian settlement of Eau Claire. Other seminar topics include:
"Norwegian Settlement in Dunn County," "Learning to Sing Norwegian,"
"Norwegians in Science," "The Birkebeiner," "Learning to Speak
Norwegian,"
"A Sample of Bunads," "The Selbu Community in Washington State,"
Readers
Theater: Three Hedmark Writers" and more.
And, of course, there will be opportunities to visit with others of
Norwegian ancestry at the Kaffe Stue. Participants can also enjoy a social
hour followed by a banquet on Friday evening. Bunads are welcome!
Entertainment will be provided by the Norske Folke Sangere. The stevne
concludes on Saturday with a luncheon and entertainment by Lewis Peterson
on "Han Ola & Han Per."
Advance registration for the event is requested. Tours and meals must be
reserved by July 15.
Additional information, including hotel information, the program schedule
and registration forms are found on the Trønderlag web site:
