My great great aunt was named Catherine Holl Kaye. They used the nickname name
Kitty (or Kittie Kaye) because there were so many Katherine, Catherine,
Cathrina, Katherina, Catrina, and Kate women around. I do have old family
letters that refer to her as Katty as well. Don't know how wild-spred this
naming pattern was, but I do know of this and one other Katty, Kattie, Kitty,
Kittie example in my own family branches both from the late 1800's. Hope this
helps,
Rita - Oconto County

Hi-
I checked a few of the sites I had and no luck with Hattie as a nickname for
Katherine. Could the H in Hattie actually been to be a K for Kattie or
could Katherine's middle name been Hattie or Harriet?
Just a few thoughts.
