Effgy mounds near Muscoda featured on public television
Native Americans lived in Wisconsin for thosands of years before anyone
else visited the area. Their efforts to continue making a home here are
featured in the March 29 episode of a series Wisconsin Stories on
Wisconsin Public Television.
'Native Journeys' the ninth program in the 10-part Wisconsin stories,
premieres at 7 pm Thursday, March 29, on the six WPT stations, with and
encore at 2:30pm Sunday April 1.
This program also visits Eagle Township north of Muscoda, which has the
highest concentration of Native American effigy mounds in North America.
The Ho-Chunk purchased the land, and archaeologists helped discover what
appears to be a village in the midst of a group of effigy mound region
here is Wisconsin has no parallel any place else in the world. "Native
Journeys" details how the Ho-Chunk Nation is building a bison herd on
the property.
