Yes,
I have had this happen. I wrote to the person thanking them profusely for all
the time and energy they put into the posting and explained that it is my
personal site policy to have all such important postings looked over by another
volunteer before posting. I explained that I do that with my own work as well
and it has been very helpful to me. This takes a little while to get done. When
I post it, they get complete credit to research/transcribing and if the
corrections are done by another, they get editing credit.
Even just having the main database done to make those corrections on is a great
help and time saver. I have had very good responses on this approach several
times, an no bad feelings. If the person did another project, they seemed to
do an more accurate job the next time, reason unknown, but it did not "put
them off" or hurt any feelings. Hope this helps. Rita - Oconto County.

A person who uses the Rusk County GenWeb site generously offered to
forward
some marriage records she had previously transcribed. I was most anxious
to get the information so I could post it, but after receiving it, I'm now
not so sure.
I've found that the information is full of multiple typos. After I found
15 obvious errors, I really started to wonder about the quality of
information I have been given. I'm also wondering about the typos that
aren't so obvious (like an incorrect date...).
Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? If so, what did you do? I
really don't want to post information I believe to be carelessly
transcribed and possibly full of a multitude of errors, but this person has
put a lot of work into this.
