I've run into this problem also. I used the material
but I put corrections [correct spelling] and questions
marks [?] in brackets [] after everything I knew to be
wrong or suspicious and I put the transcriber's name
and address prominently at the top of the page
thanking them for their effort and advising anyone
with questions regarding this material to please
contact her. Then I sent a e-mail thanking her and
gave her the url for the page. She sent back a
corrected version of the information!
If your person didn't take time to proofread he or she
didn't really put a lot of time into it.

A person who uses the Rusk County GenWeb site
generously offered to forward
some marriage records she had previously
transcribed. I was most anxious
to get the information so I could post it, but after
receiving it, I'm now
not so sure.
I've found that the information is full of multiple
typos. After I found
15 obvious errors, I really started to wonder about
the quality of
information I have been given. I'm also wondering
about the typos that
aren't so obvious (like an incorrect date...).
Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? If
so, what did you do? I
really don't want to post information I believe to
be carelessly
transcribed and possibly full of a multitude of
errors, but this person has
put a lot of work into this.
