Thanks Deb - I had that in my reply and then I deleted it and when I typed it again, I
must have left it out (Grin) - It is a trick I found quite useful - you can use in in
other areas of
also -
Try searching first with EXACT name and then search that area with every possible spelling
- I find SURNAMES are mispelled a lot - but usually you can find them if they stuck around
that area for awhile.

To all:
If you are using the Wisconsin State Historical society pre-1907 index, you can usually
find the spouses name by doing this: enter the date and the county of the record only,
this will pop up with everything in that county on that date. Then check the details and
find the matching volume and page number, if you have more than one marriage record for
that date. In this case, the record you cite in Iowa county does indeed come back with
Joseph Lipski and Emma Walton.

You are correct, Lipska is the female version of this name - try also
Lipski,
Lepski
Lipska is the female version of this name - try also Lipski, Lepski
>From on-line - snipped - to go to Wisconsin, where they settled in Iowa County,
WI, near the town of Anaton probably 1850ish. (parts of Iowa county changed to
LaFayette County, WI, so do your searches in those counties) - so check out

I think they ment Clifton not Anton because I found them in 1880! He also
was born in Poland/Germany not Wi.(The 1900 census is incorrect)

Emma, 25, wife

Here is a possible marriage record
There is a marriage index for an Emma Walton 20 Nov 1876 in Iowa Co., but it
doesn't cross reference to see who the spouse is....
They can order the record from the Wisconsin state historical society
The 1900 census says Joseph was born in Wi., but he is divorced by the 1910
census, and I haven't found him. His kids in the 1910 and
1920 census say father born in Germany....Would suggest that the person find
the obit for Emma to see if it says where they were married? See if it says
where she was born, or death record to see where she was born. Then might be
able to find out more.
