Hi Paula etal,
Along with being a County Coordinator for Barron & Sawyer County and my
regular job as 'manager/operator' of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake
Superior Chippewa's HydroElectric Plant at the Headwaters of the Chippewa River, I
am the Archivist and Researcher for the LCO Tribal Historical Preservation
Office. Back in the 50s and 60s a man named J.William Trygg from Ely Minnesota
was helping the Bands deal with the land fraud issues that dated back to the
times of the treaties... he was a surveyor and map nut... He created using
the original Land Surveys (in Barron & Sawyer County these surveys were done in
the 1840's and 1850's). They are stunningly good and interesting maps...
they were used by the Bands in Law Suits and today the Trygg Land Office (if you
google that you will find the maps for sale). I have all 46 maps for all of
Minnesota, a small part of Iowa, most of Wisconsin (Southern and SW corner
not a part of the map set) and Michigan... the maps are 25 Megs in size and
when reduced in clarity the vital information is lost (ie very detailed maps
with small writing - reduced size copy maps)
The maps are unfortunately copyrighted, but I am scanning them all in and
recombining them and offering them back in HQ Jpeg format hoping that the folks
at Trygg Land Office will give us permission to use them online... I can
share much more information with any of you that want it... email me at
_Ondamitag(a)aol.com_ (mailto:Ondamitag@aol.com) and I will show you the whats where
and why fors of these maps... I will share with others once I have the
complete set scanned in 20 of the 46 done and at 7 hours a map it takes a while.

Hi Timm-

going to be posted on the website - I would like to see one.
It sounds like you are very busy person.
