Morning,
I have an awesome 1945 plat map from Rockford Map Publishers...they tucked a
note inside (they gave me a discount for the Shawano GenWeb Project) and the
note says that it's copyrighted, I can buy a license for $100 for 1 year,
otherwise no copying of any shape or form, basically. I understand that.
Question: Fair use? I clipped the following from a copyright site...
Fair Use.
Fair use or fair practice is utilization of a portion of a copyrighted work
"as is" for purposes of parody, news reporting, research and education about
such copyrighted work without the permission of the author.
If I create an index online and would copy the section of a township someone
requested and email just that section for genealogy research, would that be
covered under fair use? I'm just asking....I hear Leavenworth is cold this
time of year..or should I say Danbury?<g>
Thanks,
Anne
