This Beth Coxon apparently "refers" people placing queries to this Jody
with the sites. Jody sends some information, including what is on the
Oconto County Site (but doesn't mention that). See what I helped find on
the Booz family to post on the Oconto County Site some time ago and then
compare it with what this Jody sent to her:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioconto/booz.htm
Jody also does not make it clear up front in the e-mails that she is paid
for her services. This needs clarification. I am concerned. Please see
the interaction below and let me know what you think? Rita
Dear Louise:
You seem to have quite a good bit on your ancestors. I have added "BELOW"
the information that I was able to find for you in Wisconsin.
If you are interested in hard copies of the census records, let me know
and I
will email them to you.
Please contact me at: SearchingFamily(a)aol.com
Thank you. Jody Concha

not Joseph himself. Another possibility is that he was so young when he

That could also be the reason that his father's birthplace is listed as
Wisconsin and not Canada as it should be),

Hello Jody,
My name is Louise, and I am a French Canadian. I was referred to you by
Beth
Coxon, in hope that you could help me find one of my ancestors that left
Canada with his family around 1879. His name was Joseph Booz (Bowz) but
other members of this family name in Canada were spelled Booze. It was
also
transformed to Beauce, Bause, Bauce, etc.... Rita, from the Oconto
County
site, is generously already helping me to find him, as she confirmed to
me
that he had been living in Oconto with his family around that time.
Joseph Booz was born on Sept 16, 1838. He was married to Celina Sawyer
in
Trois-Rivières, Québec, on July 4, 1860. They lived in Trois-Rivières
for a
while and had four children there : Joseph, Marie Louise, Rose Anna and
Corinne. Then, around 1879, they left Trois-Rivières and were reported
in
Oconto, Oconto County, Wisconsin, in the 1881 American Census (family
name
was transformed to Boos, and Celina was spelled Cylinda...) Joseph was
reported to work in a saw mill. Two additional children were also
reported
in their household: Flora and a newborn with no name yet.

Joseph is of that interest to me, it is because he was my
great-great-grandfather's brother (Paul Absalon Bause). My great
grandmother (Virginie Bause, daughter of Paul Absalon)
mentioned this uncle of her to my father a couple of times. I was
always
intrigued never to find any trace of him or his descendants in the
family
tree.
Joseph Booz father's name was Paul Booze (b. abt 1809 in St-Fabien,
Rimouski,
Québec). Paul married Arsene Rouselle (b. abt 1810)
on Aug 31, 1819 in L'Ile-Verte. Paul was Arsene's first husband and they
had
8 children together. When Paul passed away around 1841, Arsene remarried
with Basile Michaud in 1843. Arsene is also an interesting person, since
she
is a descendant of Catherine de Baillon (herself descendant of "Rois de
France") through the Miville-Deschesnes family.
Paul Booze was himself the son of Pierre Booze (Boors, Bause), the first
Booze reported on Canadian soil. Pierre Booze was born around 1752 (ref.
burial documents ----- May 20, 1814, in St-Germain-de-Rimouski, Quebec
----
say that he was born in Norway, but I have doubts...). First traces of
him
were found in Quebec City, when he married Angelique Petit, in the
Recollets
Chapel, on Sept 18, 1794. They were Protestants at that time. I did not
find a copy of their marriage certificate yet, but no reference to his
parents or place of birth were ever mentioned in any document, as of this
day. I know that he was cited as a "river pilot." I have no clue on how
he
got in Quebec City, and where he lived before. Some say that he might
have
been an ordinary seaman from anywhere or even a German mercenary during
the
American Revolution, discharged around 1783, that chose to stay in
Canada, as
many of them did. I could not verify any of those theories. It could be
interesting to look at census between 1775 and 1794, in order to find
some
traces.
If you could help me with the Joseph Booz family that settled in
Wisconsin
around 1879, I would appreciate a lot. I will be able to help his
descendants looking for their ancestors.
Louise
