I recommend using this data trick rather than using the Excel conversion process:

Also inside your table tag you need to use align="center" such as <table
align="center">

I have a document I created in Excel that I want to post as-is on my
site.
Excel has a feature to convert the worksheet to HTML, but for some reason, I
can't get it to center horizontally on the page after it's converted. The
<center></center> codes have no effect on it. I've tried setting margins
and
centering settings within the original sheet but they aren't recognized
after conversion either. I googled everything I could think of and didn't
come up with any tips on the web.
Any ideas? I use 1st Page 2000 as my HTML editor and Firefox and IE as my
browsers...
