Hi all,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for expressing your
opinions, concerns, and questions regarding the discussion of the
State Coordinator position.
In rereading all of the discussion, I find that you all have
presented discussion regarding:
Term of both State Coordinator and Assistant State Coordinator:
1. 1 year
2. 2 year
3. Vote of confidence
4. Grandfathering current administration.
Performance review capability of administration: As MAK has pointed
out, the USGenWeb bylaws provide a mechanism for dismissal of a State
Coordinator should you all so choose. I would also urge those of you
that wish to, to participate in the USGenWeb Guideline Committee
discussions.
Choice vs. Election of Assistant State Coordinator: When I was first
elected, the second vote getter was elected ASC. When that individual
stepped down, I chose the current ASC. I very highly recommend the
choice of ASC by the State Coordinator. In my case, I chose an
individual that was a long standing member of the WIGenWeb Project, an
individual that possessed skills, knowledge and talent that I
personally did not have regarding actual Wisconsin ties and knowledge
of its history, and admittedly an individual that I felt I would and
could work well with. I have not been disappointed.
Voting: The suggestions have included private to a volunteer group of
CC's and a yahoo type poll site. The option that you all may not be
aware of is that of the USGenWeb Project's Election Committee
handling it. Worth consideration.
Other roles within the project: I have always been under the
impression WIGenWeb Project volunteers are more interested in
material, research, and content of your county site(s). But I would
certainly entertain discussion regarding "subject matter experts"
within the WIGenWeb Project.
MIRC: I established the weekly IRC chat for many reasons. None of
which were policy making, but is purely a mechanism for me
personally to get to "meet many of you", and to provide another
avenue for all of us to share information. I acknowledge that the
IRC venue is not accessible for many of you and that time, priorities,
system constraints do not make this a viable option for all. That is
perfectly okay. I have always considered it just an additional tool.
WIGEN-L (WIGEN-D): This list has always been my avenue to contact
each of you, and our avenue to work together. My only rule has and
will continue to be is that we all treat each other with respect and
courtesy.
Would you like further discussion on any of the topics, or would you
like to begin making your decisions?
I'm udderly delighted that so many participated in this discussion.
Thank you,
Tina
