Hi Robin,
That is unusual but she probably doesn't understand the work involved and
the loss to the genealogy community by removing all the data... I had a
researcher with a similar request about 2 years back -- her hubby had passed
and genealogy was something they both did together... I asked her to think on
it for a few weeks and if she felt the same, then I would remove it... and
yes, she did change her mind -- not as active in posting/researching as
she used to be but she still is a great resource for the surnames she has
listed...
People do different things for a variety of reasons...
Take care,
Anne

I just had a most unusual request. A lady asked me to REMOVE all the
posts she has submitted over the 12-year life of the Grant County
site. She said her email address was old, she didn't want me to update
it, she doesn't want anyone to contact her on any of those surnames as
she hasn't done genealogy in a long time.
So I removed all her queries, her listings on my surname pages. The
only thing I didn't remove was a full text obituary. I took her name
off it so she's no longer associated with it, but I felt that since
the obit is a public record (although sadly she didn't know what
newspaper it was published in or when) she couldn't claim an exclusive
right to it.
This took a lot of work as she was a very active submitter back in the
day. And I feel sad for anyone looking for those surnames now. I don't
know her situation of course, she may be very elderly or ill, but
still I would be curious how keeping her listings posted with an
outdated email address could constitute a problem for her. It doesn't
help new researchers either though.
And the other curious part of it is that in her "signature" in the
email? All those surnames I just removed from the website.
Robin
