I read the amendment proposal to Clarify Acceptable Uses of the USGenWeb
Project Logos.& the current guideline/standard (A) that it will replace.
IMO it is a very good and much needed amendment. I would have no problem
with Wisconsin supporting this one. I would like to encourage all Wisconsin
CC's to read the actual amendment proposal; and not just what is being said
about it.
Now for the issues raised by MAX in her email: The ideas brought forward by
Max for discussion go way beyond what is included in the above amendment.
Below are my comments..
1) Wisconsin Banner: I would like to see a banner offered as an option but
not manditory. A choice to either use the banner or to continue using one
of the current logos. A thin banner much like the one used by
Ancestry/Rootsweb.
2) USGenWeb Branding: I would not like to see anything manditory beyond the
use of a simple banner on the state home/index page. I have visited all
the counties in Wisconsin and all the State Sites, but not all the counties
in each state. I enjoy the divirsity and gain new ideas from how each
webmaster presents their material. The variety that is present in the "The
USGenWeb Project" helps distinguish us from the Commercial/Business
websites.
We are all volunteers, each with our own ideas of design & content.
