Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi Tina,
Yes, the gatewayed feature is still working on the Message Boards... I have
the Shawano Message Board linked to the Mailing List...
Now, don't ask how I did it... it's been a while!

I haven't received anything from the list for awhile - thought it was just quiet -
The only one, that I know of, that can "monitor" the list is the list owner - which should be Tina - and I am not sure why she would do that - However, I didn't see your reply - or I would have responded -
The VOTING is open - and you should have received an email with a password - I didn't get the first notice until after I got the email saying voting has been delayed - that was strange - I can only think that because all of us with "experience" have left the EC all at once, there is no one to double check, like we all did, to ensure a smooth election. They will learn - grin.
I too, was surprised, that only one person was running in certain areas - however, considering what goes on behind the scenes, perhaps that is the reason why?
oh - one way to check - is to go to the Archives and browse to see if it ever posted. You can check here - http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/USGenWeb/WIGEN.html
I see your post - that means one thing - it was posted - but there was either a glitch in the mailing - or both of our email browsers filtered it -
Take care Paula -

In my spare time - I have been researching how to update all my USGenWeb pages so
they will be more streamlined - and easier for the researcher to find
information -
I
do have a search engine - but I would be interested in hearing any
innovative ways to format my main page(s) - so first time researchers
or new genealogists will not be so overwhelmed - Currently, I have
everything listed on the left side on a main menu - then when you click
on the General subject, all those pages have a more specific menu -
but, I think this might be difficult for some people to figure out how
to navigate the site. I am trying to figure out if a top general topics menu with a specific on the left menu would be more effective - or more confusing.
Also, I would like to find a way to get
around using the Message Boards - when they were ours, it was great -
but now that we "share" with ancestory - I feel the data being
collected is no longer "USGenWeb" and even though it is helpful -
transcriptions get lost in the queries - does anyone else feel that
way? And if so, What are you doing? I especially loved the
"automatic" to the archives, where the individual could post to the
archives and our mailing lists at one time - but since WI moved to a

When I vote for anyone - I base it upon not only their record, but their reputation. I NEVER vote for people who sling mud - because usually they are hiding behind a pile of it. I NEVER vote for people whose basis work ethic is lacking, because they will have nothing to provide. And I certainly don't vote for people who constant criticize the organization they are pledged (or want to be pledged) to support, because if they don't love it, with all it's flaws, how can they represent those of us who do...
Most of the people who have been serving on the USGenWeb, whether as NC, SC, ASC, CC, - and all others,
have been hard working and doing their best, while all the time have
been constantly harassed and heckled by a few, I call the VOCAL
minority. I might not like all of them, and I might not agree with all
of them - but, it does NOT give me the right to constantly harrass them
over insignificant issues... which usually are the figment of
someone's imagination, like reading something into an email which just
isn't there.
The VOCAL minority like to stir the pot - they tend to send email after email accusing others, and squawking about "their rights" but do not look at their own actions. They are so busy attacking others - they do not have time to do anything POSITIVE for USGenWeb. They will put up websites which are offensive to many, hog the conversations on the DISCUSS and ALL lists. All of us can recognize them, yet they seem to remain clueless about their behavior.
You will notice, I am not naming any names - but, if the shoe fits, I am sure someone will wear it LOUDLY shortly after this posts (smile). I don't mind, as I have a DELETE key - which is my right (tongue in cheek - LOL),
BTW - I spent twenty years defending the American Rights as a MARINE - excuse me if I take offense at people who use the term "our rights" as it is a free pass to be RUDE and OBNOXIOUS. Rights have consequences. The right to VOTE at USGenWeb - should not be compare to the rights of Americans. Especially on the 4th of July, when we celebrate our independence.

I was pretty sure it had nothing to do with the USGenWeb voting - but wanted to check the FACTs for myself.

Subject: [USGENWEB-NE] Campaign Pages Observations
hummmm ... during the 2007 elections when I ran for NC, I was the first
ever candidate to take a stance supporting the Rights of Members on my
campaign page.
This year ... we have several candidates for offices who, on their campaign
pages, take the stance of supporting the Rights of Members. Why? I would
guess that they feel the AB needs reps who will support and uphold the
Rights of Members.
As whom to vote for ... when we have elections here in Nevada, I do not go
and check out the candidates homes. I do not judge a candidate upon how
well maintained their homes are, nor if their homes add value to the
neighborhood or not.
I judge candidates upon their track records, and their platforms.
In the race for RAL ... I am the only candidate who has a proven track
records of having the adamant stance that the Bylaws and the Rights of
Members should be upheld and enforced by the NC / AB.
Anywho ... my campaign page has received its final update:
http://www.mindspring.com/~dlytton/2009/index.html
Daryl -- Fighting for your rights since 2002
------------------------------
Hi - If you still have files on the rootsweb server and want to change your MAST from the generic rootsweb to usgenweb (see my site:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood) - here is how you do it.
1 Create text file with the word USGENWEB and no other info in it. (And NO SPACES AFTER IT)
2 Save as banner_select.txt
3 Upload to the public_html directory
4 Rename file to just banner_select - that means delete the.txt so the name of the file is banner_select
5 Now, go to your site, or refresh you site, and the banner should now be the USGEnWeb one.
6. If not, (OK - mine kept loading wierd) - so then I added this code at the very top of my index page (yes, above the <html> ) and it worked fine.

Getting this done tonight was my 4th of July gift to ME - and all my contributors who faithfully supported
our USGenWeb efforts.

Hi everyone,
I had a dream... well, I had a goal of putting this information about the
WWII Army & Air Force soldiers in the Wisconsin GenWeb archives... all
neatly typed and easily searchable... well, it didn't come to pass... yet. So
to celebrate the 4th of July, I thought I would just add the images to the
Shawano site temporarily and eventually get the transcription into the
archives. So for the next couple of weeks at least, ALL the Wisconsin counties
are at:
_http://wigenweb.org/shawano/WW2/HONORLIST_WISCONSIN.html_
(http://wigenweb.org/shawano/WW2/HONORLIST_WISCONSIN.html)
Feel free to search & use any of the WORLD WAR II WISCONSIN HONOR LIST
ARMY & AIR FORCE image scans for your Wisconsin GenWeb Projects. And I'm
hoping to get the other branches of service up there as well.
HAPPY 4th of JULY!

Here is a review of a new WI history book - OK, so it is only a small portion of Wisconsin, well, really it is only a small portion of Wood County, but, it also happens to be the history of the township where my grandparents raised their children - and therefore, part of MY personal history - I really could sing "Over the river and through the woods, to grandmama's house I go" - as we went over two bridges to get there = along the Wisconsin River -
I am very excited to share this news with all of you - and of course, I plan to get an autographed copy - smile... for my own historical collection.
I am hoping that some of the local libraries will consider purchasing it - so please forward this to as many individuals as you care to.
Here is the review -
