Rootsweb seems to be having an issue tonight .. You understood correctly.
You all now should have (if you host your pages on wigenweb.org) received
passwords.

Anne,
I received the okay & passwords to upload my four counties and have done
so. But I do believe that Rootsweb site now has problems because I could
not access even their home page.

Hi Tina, MAK, etc.
I just finished loading the Shawano site up on Tina's web space area... but
I'm looking around at the other sites on rootsweb and they are missing...
did I miss something? I did understand it was OK to ftp up to the pages
again, right?
Thanks,

Guess I jumped the gun by about 5 minutes! Just got an email from Sherry
with my passwords! I hope you all did too!
Happy to be back to work (but it was a nice vacation - at least for some of
us who didn't have to pull our hair out!)

I have been patiently waiting for passwords for my three county sites. I,
too, would have thought that the passwords would be issued before the old
sites were taken down. But I am sure we are all in good hands and the
powers that be know exactly what they are doing.
That being said, I have noticed a new page that comes up when clicking on my
sites' home pages, rather than the "index of /" page that has been coming up
since the sites were taken down. For example:
"Welcome to washburn.wigenweb.org*Your account has been created.*
You can access your Web site right away using
d1725722.u117.c9.ixwebhosting.com. Over the next few days, DNS servers all
across the Internet will update themselves with your new site name. Once
that happens, you will be able to access your site at its permanent address,
washburn.wigenweb.org."
The above message is identical on all three county sites. Does this mean
that everything is ready for us to upload our sites again? Have others
gotten their passwords? Do I need to contact Sherry, or do I just need to
be a little more patient for a little while longer?
Curious,

Thanks, Tina, for the fast reply -- it helps knowing when to expect the
site to be back up -- I can relay the info to researchers who have been

Hi,
I know Paula already asked the question but it would be helpful to know
what's going on with the AWOL websites... and the passwords... I know everyone
is doing the best they can...
Thanks for keeping us informed...
Anne
Hi Sherri-
I see the sites are off-line - but I haven't gotten new passwords. Please issue my new passwords so I am able to get sites up loaded and going again! I am trying to be
very patient!! I would have thought we would have been told when the sites would be deleted and ready for the uploading again and that we would have also gotten the new passwords before the sites were deleted??

Hi,
Just checked the links -- Shawano County is actually up at the wigenweb
site... there's a reference page at rootsweb but the actual site with the
latest updates is at wigenweb. And the email is correct.
As for what's new... working on updating pages and keeping up with obits...
and waiting for the "all clear sign" and new passwords to upload / ftp...
Personally, been busy looking at house-plans as we are planning on building
a house shortly. Anyone have plans with a large first floor master bdrm
and main floor laundry, let me know. Hubby is planning his 3 car garage &
9' foot basement ceilings... lol... Basically, he's looking for a garage
with a house attached... must be a guy thing.
Hope all is well with everyone and no flu issues... I have a cold &
congestion and was going to go into the clinic last week and they told me not to
come in if I was sick... (grin)... but I understand the reasoning. A
researcher emailed me and reminded me the other day that 16 million people died
in WWI -- 50 million died from the 1918 Influenza epidemic.
Take care & stay well!
Anne

Hi and Happy Fall to All,
Oconto County:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wioconto/
Hard Drive began to fail. Had to back everything up in a hurry, take the old
girl in for repairs, updates and new equipment and I just finished reloading
programs and all the data. Not a computer wizard so this took time and was
kind of scary for me. Just getting back to things, after a few weeks. So far
so good.
Continuing with gravestone photos by volunteers and family descendants as
they are sent in. Also continuing to post county Petitions for
Naturalization, now into the 1890's. Just about to begin county newspaper
birth, death, marriage and family news from 1913 and 1914. They are being
transcribed by a new volunteer. Adding Family Page Histories, obituaries and
photos sent in by descendants. Also hearing from several other countries
with old Oconto County connections. Cool stuff
Other postings are at:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wioconto/newest.htm

Hi Tina-
My links remain the same Waupaca - http://www.wigenweb.org/waupaca and Waushara - http://www.wigenweb.org/waushara/index.htm.
My email address also remains the same as pajolova(a)hotmail.com.
I am continuing the obituary and headstone photo projects at both sites. Of course the Waupaca site having many more as I have had this site much longer than Waushara County and more access to Waupaca.

I continue to add current obituaries to my index from one of the local

slowed to a crawl. I'm subscribed to the message board at Rootsweb and
there's not as much activity as there's been in the past. Freefind

good news.
