Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi all,
The WIGenWeb Project has just completed putting on-line a
wonderful new resource. It was transcribed and
contributed by Timm Severud.
"HISTORY OF THE CHIPPEWA VALLEY" by Thomas E. Randall
1875. Free Press Print. Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
I bring it to the attention of Project lists, as it
crosses both county lines within Wisconsin, and also
crosses state lines with its rich history of the area and
its settlers.
You can visit the pages in two different ways:
An html format is located at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/history/randall/
An html index with text urls of the material is presented
here:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wi/history/randall/
Please feel free to share with appropriate lists.
Enjoy!

Three more chapters to go, but I did add a search engine. Thanks Nance, I
enjoy it especially since Timm, you and others do all the work!

Tina,
Just wanted to say that I think you have done a wonderful job of putting
together Timm's transcription of this book. I will be putting links to
it from the Barron, Eau Claire and Trempealeau Co. sites. Thanks again
for doing all of this work for us!

Hi all --
Here is a new resource for WIGenWeb Project. My thanks
to Timm Severud for his transcription and to Nance
Sampson for her encouragement! These pages feature
Pepin, Dunn, Chippewa, Eau Claire, St. Croix, Crawford,
Trempealeau, Rusk, Barron and Chippewa County areas. It
is also a GREAT historical look at the period 1836-1870
in Wisconsin.
I still have a few chapters to do, but offer the link.
Again, thanks Timm and Nance!

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I've implemented several of
them and hopefully won't have to much mail bouncing.

Update on coming events for the Mountain Historical Society - Oconto
County, WI.
These hard working folks have a very fine Park which has an original
area log home as it's museum and welcome center (see description below).
There
is also a walking path along which you will see the historic Iron Bridge
set over a wetlands landscape, the bell and tower from the original
Mountain schoolhouse and the World War II Memorial. Now they are
dedicating several impressive new additions. Please consider making a
visit to them part of your plans during a trip to Oconto County. If
you have questions, Society President Debra Uhlenbrauck always looks
forward to hearing from you at:
debclerk(a)ez-net.com
Mountain Historical Society Page for 2004:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioconto/MHSPage.htm
We have the logging memorial dedication. It will be 2 horses pulling a
sleigh of logs and is approx 26' X 7'. The school bell is in place as
well as a walking trail so it looks very different from the current
picture (which will be updated soon on their page).
If you could post these important dates I would appreciate it.
June 19 memorial dedication of a park bench to Paul Elbe (he dismantled
to log home and rebuilt it where it stands) from the Paul Elbe donation,
July 3 logging memorial to honor our forefathers, and July 10 memorial
dedication of a park bench from the Edward Palmer donation. In August
we will be presenting "railroads" in Mountain, the past. We have an
exciting summer to look forward to....

Mountain Historical Society
