Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
You might consider Yahoo.com for your genealogy to
avoid the virus infections -
I switched to it years ago - it is FREE and it filters
out the majority of junk mail and it does a nice job
of preventing virus's - if an attachment has a virus,
I get a blank email.
You can also route your current email address to it
and it will sort it as well...

Also this, thought you would want to know. Not coming from me or the
site. Picked up from the addresses of an infected computer. Peachy.
That could put a real crimp on the site.

Thanks for the heads up. Not coming from the Oconto County site or
my computer. Picked up out of someone's infected email addresses,
but hopefully others will know that. Oh poop! Rita - Oconto County

Hi all,
Kelly Mullins has decided to step down as WIGenWeb Project County
Coordinator for Racine County. With this note, I am placing Racine County
up for adoption.
I personally want to thank Kelly for her work, friendship and dedication to
Racine County, WIGenWeb Project.
Kelly, thank you!

Hi Lori ...
There are many options available to them. I will speak to the one I am
knowledgeable of.
Have them visit http://accounts.rootsweb.com/ to acquire web space. ( should
be self-explanatory)

Check this one out at your library or book store first. It is a
priceless investment (or gift) for anyone within a large variety of
interests. This is a real honey!
"Dressed for the Photographer - Ordinary Americans & Fashion, 1840 -
1900"
by Joan Severa
Publisher: Kent State University Press - Ohio & London, England
copyright 1995
ISBN 0-87338-512-8
Hard cover
Size: 8½ x 11 inches
592 pages - 272 large, detailed, original photograhpic illustrations
(lots and lots from all over Wisconsin).
Terrific bibliography
Excellent index
This is a tremendous book for use in dating old photos of people,
which helps greatly when you have unidentified family photographs;
or if you like old photographs, heritage, culture, modes of dress,
objects of general life, even carpentry and architecture. All
economic levels, races, cultures, ethnic groups are presented; in
other words, whoever was there.
Of special significance to us is that the major source for the
photographs appears to be the Wisconsin State Historical Society
holdings (places and name info given with each image as known),
although examples from other public and private national sources are
also widely used. Page after page, you see Wisconsin and it's people
as they were, indoors and out.
I find myself curling up on a cold or rainy evening and becoming
totally absorbed in just looking at the excellent photographic
images. Diary, newspaper entries, and other timely information is
included with the author's vast knowledge of people, history,
clothing and objects. The book is broken down into decades, with a
general text describing the people and the times followed by pages
and pages of enlarged old photographs and comments on each one. When
was the first camera brought to Wisconsin? It came on a boat into
Milwaukee Harbor in 1847! Photos in this book begin before that date
and are helpful with family heirlooms brought along with settlers.
Real Nice!
Rita - Oconto County WIGenWeb Coordinator
Thanks Paula,
You went the extra mile on this for sure.I will pass this along and fully
support your "step by step" approach. It just does not prove anything in
genealogy to find out where he is buried, if you don't know if and where he
fits. We did us proud! Rita
