Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thanks MAK. Will wait to see what happens then.

Subject: RE: Query
Hi Robin,
I have no idea which county it would have been. I only have this info from
my mother, rather late in her life. Somewhere I read that there was a
large Ukrainian community in Wisconsin. I think it was called 'something'
Lake, which obviously is not very helpful when speaking of Wisconsin. I
did print out a map of the area and put it in my files. I'll try to dig it
out and send you the name of the town. Perhaps you might be able to
recommend some possible resources using that small clue.
In the meantime, I wonder if you could please recommend some websites I
might search or a search string I can use to find some on-line death/burial
data for Wisconsin. Maybe through a process of elimination, I can come up
with a just few remaining possibilities. Then the cost to do a search
would be a lot less.
Thanks for your help,
Lois

Hello:
Finally got the "Sketch of Pierce County" published in 1857 which was so kindly copied and sent to me by Michelle Laycock online. Thanks Michelle! It can be viewed at http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/sketchofpierce.txt.
The first bit of information on Pierce County in WWII is online as well. It can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/military.htm, then click on the WWII link.
That's it for now, back to my cave.

Hi Debbie-
I had wanted to turn the gateway off for a short time while I transferred a
large number of things to the new message board so everything was located in
place on the county site. I had emailed Rootsweb and is a copy of the reply
I got from them.
At present the Gateway on/off function can only be set by Message Board
Administration staff--but it can be changed. Since your board is a locality
board drop a note to: BOARDS-LOCALITIES(a)rootsweb.com and have the gateway
turned off so that you can post all the data and then recontact Elaine at
that address when you want the gateway turned back on.
This is an area where we'll need to take a look at the reasons this function
have been set as a staff function to see if we can't have this changed for
the future so that the board admin can perform this task.

Hi Debbie,
The messages posted on WIDANE are being gatewayed to the mailing list. I'm
receiving notifications generally after the posting has taken place though.

Hello:
The old boards could be gatewayed to the various county lists, and I
understood the new ones would be as well, but I do not find that happening,
nor is there anyway to turn the gateway on under my Admin center anymore.
Has that service gone bye-bye?

I've always thought this is a really neat page:
http://members.nbci.com/mspong/
It is the 1881 "Household Cyclopedia" for useful and domestic arts --a
complete and practical library. Just a fun thing. I have one of my
grandmother's original cookbooks that tells you to dress up, do your hair,
and display a nice table... or you will ruin your husband's appetite. I just
love that. LOL!

Shelley,
Sounds like you are going to the wrong page to login.
Many of us had the same problem, only to find out that they changed the
login page URL.
Try going here and logging in, and see if it is better for you.

I really did not want to bother the list with my question, but I don't get
any response from the Board-Admin list.
I want to delete a query which was posted with no mention of the county. I
go to the admin page, and get the message:
This board/category has been moved or deleted. As we combine our former
message board systems (FamilyHistory.com and GenConnect), you may experience
this message as groups of messages are migrated or combined. Please check
back in 6-8 hours.
I use the search board but can't find the offending query. Now what do I do?

Before the "redesign" I believe a person could just post their surnames if
they didn't want to post a query. Is that correct? Unless I'm missing
something, that "feature" seems to have been removed or overlooked.
I tried playing with the message boards "as is" and found that if I only put
my surnames in the surname box, the search engine won't find it.
I guess I need to report that for a future fix. What's the URL or addy
again?

Hi Frank & Michelle,
Looks really awesome. My family and I plan a trip to Kenosha the first
weekend in August. I was hoping to find a great-great uncle and aunt in the
Catholic Church cemetery in the Town of Paris, but I see you already have
this on-line and it doesn't list them. Ugh! Guess it is time to hope for a
death record and an obit.
Looks great,

Here is a great page which lets you order death certificates from Minnesota
for $8.00 a copy. They have indexed deaths from 1908 to 1946. The page has a
