Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Debie,
I can cycle 10 at a time.. I have cycled, through ten at a time, through
Portage County. I will do the next ten later this evening, or tomorrow..
Thanks for reminding me!

Hi all,
Let me just recap.. for a moment (and please no muttering under your breath,
there she goes again <VBG>)!
We have had lots of new people, new ideas, and big doses of enthusiasm
over the last few months. This is a terrific thing, but sometimes
with enthusiasm and transition come enthusiastic words, that appear to
the audiences as very well meaning words, gone awry.
Each of us interpret words written on a page differently. I would
like all of us to take a deep breath, and remember that the WIGenWeb
Project, (each of us and our many contributors), individually, in our
own way, and collectively, do our very best to serve our visitors.
There are many reasons that CC's come and go. Often times it is
family, work issues, other times life in general. We have to respect
their choices, and for the majority of the cases in WIGenWeb Project
it has been just that, life situations. To the departing CC's, I wish
them all the best, and have been impressed overall with the transition
period that goes on, behind the scenes, out of the public eye, with
the old and new CC, that lends to the benefit of the WIGenWebProject
and the genealogical community.
I am sure you are all wondering if I have a point. Believe it or not,
I do. <g>
And that point is, I respect each of you, and the work that you do
with the WIGenWeb Project. Please keep up the good work, and the
enthusiasm. Each of us benefit. But, please be very mindful that we
need to do this in a constructive manner. If any of you feel you have
an issue with a fellow CC, please write him/her personally, and
include me, if you feel I can assist.
T.
Hi Tina,
Thanks for the answer. Was just wondering because I have Calumet
and Sheboygan and don't remember ever seeing any of them at the end of the
list.
Guess I must have missed when Calumet had it's turn, Oh well,
there is always next time,
Debie

Hi Tina & MAK,
I guess this needs to be directed to you. For many months now I have been
reading the mail to the list, some I have missed and for that I am sorry.
Anyway, at the bottom of each letter it tells the reader to check out a
specific WIGenweb county. My question is, how does a CC get their county
added to this ad (for lack of better words to call it)? It always seems to
be a certain batch of counties that are mentioned and it repeats, but I
have noticed alot of the counties are not mentioned.
Is there something we CC's need to do to get our county on this ring?
Just wondering,

Ellen has been helping me for some time with my site and has agreed to be my co-coordinator. She has been and will continue be a great asset to the Manitowoc county site.

Hi list,
I just wanted to say that I personally type an idea, reread it and it sounds
OK, hit that "send now" button and then when I get my list copy, can't
BELIEVE I wrote what I wrote when I really meant something less harsh or that
my humor wasn't quite as cute as I thought it was.....this stuff happens and
from working with ALL of you on the list I know you're all good people,
trying the best you can with the abilities and resources we each have.
Personally, I think anyone that can FTP is walking with the saints!! We're
all volunteers and I just wanted to say I hope I haven't personally offended
any of you....but you never know how a word in an email can be taken....
Take care,
Anne

MAK writes to at least four lists:
"In addition to the move, the site got a well needed facelift (thanks to you who
sent me emails - grin). "
geez - MAK - maybe you might not of thought that Brenda did the greatest job - but to announce it on all the lists!! Personally if I was Brenda I'd be quite insulted. Maybe some of us are not quite as wonderful at websites as you seem to be. I think an apology is in order, whast you did whether you realize it or not was cruel and uncalled for.
AS the Assistant Coordinator of the WIGenWeb - you should be holding yourself up to a little better standard.

Hi! For all you MonroeCoWI researchers, its offical, the USGenWeb WIGenWeb
MonroeCoWI site has been moved to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimonroe/
In addition to the move, the site got a well needed facelift (thanks to you who
sent me emails - grin). It has a left side menu for easy access to our pages,
and added two new pages (this am), a lookup page and a contributors page... so
check it out....
Brenda is stepping down and MAK (that's me) will be the new CC... So please,
in the transition, try to be patient and understanding. If you recently sent
information to Brenda, and still have a copy and would like to send it to me,
my email is: makkuehl(a)yahoo.com As always, you may snail mail me at:
Marcia Ann Kuehl
P O Box 7326
Capistrano Beach, CA 92624-7326
I want to thank Brenda for her outstanding support and administration of the
website, and for entrusting it to my care. Brenda, don't be a stranger!!!
If you have any ideas, contributions, or information you are willing to share,
don't be shy, send it!!! This is OUR site, and it will be only as good as
those researchers who help build it up...
Looking forward to working with you as a the MonroeCoWI team. R/S MAK

Hello:
In honor of the 140th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War this month, I began perusing ALL the rosters of WI units gleaning the Pierce County residents from each to place online. It is now complete through the 14th Wisconsin Infantry. Hope to have it done by Memorial Day, as you all know originally begun to honor the Civil War dead.
Battles in which Pierce County units served list some of the bloodiest in the history of the war, including: Antietam, Gettysburg, Wilderness.
I have a few full rosters I had already done. They include the 4th Cavalry Co. G, 12th WI Infantry Co. A and the 50th WI Infantry Co. G. If you have a look at these full rosters and find people from your county in them, I would be happy to pass them on. They can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/civilwar.htm

Crawford:
24 more cemeteries linked in: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wicrawfo/crawcem.html
2000 census data added.
Chapter 8 of the history updated with a better graphic of township sections.
Search engine added for the site - to assist in finding a particular person.
I'm plodding along on another chapter in the history of Crawford County
between sinus
attacks.

I have to follow up..
The "Rosie Magazine", sent me three copies today.. with the page all
bookmarked.. and I quote...
"Next, I went to www.usgenweb.org, where it's possible to find volunteers in
faraway states or counties who are willing to look up records on your behalf.
In Wisconsin, a genealogist named Kay Scholtz discovered my great-aunt
Anastasia's will. Housed in the same courthouse was the death record of Mary
Switalski, who turned out to be my great-grandmother. She's been buried for
nearly 100 years in an old church graveyard, but I wouldn't be surprised to
hear from her one day."
