I'd like to say Happy Thanksgiving and a huge thanks to the hundreds of
volunteers that have put in countless hours creating and maintaining this
great project. We are in a sense a family and all of us may not always get
along or agree with each other but in spite of that we continue to build
and expand our sites producing more and more material for the researchers.
Thank you, every single one of you... coordinators, transcribers, board
maintainers, list managers and so forth... all of you!

Tina:
Thanks and wonderful news on your new home! I hope you will have many wonderful holidays within its walls in the years to come. I don't know if I will make it to the chat tonight either. I have 3 pumpkin, 2 mincemeat pies and 1 Marlborough pudding to make myself for dinner at my mothers, then on Friday, I get to make the whole meal for another set of family!
Think I'll just go shoot myself now.

Hi all,
I want to take a moment thank each and every one of you for the work that you
do with the WIGenWeb Project, its contributors and it's visitors. I witness
each and every day what a special team we have here in WiGenWeb, and as the
holiday approaches, I want each of you to know that I appreciate it, and that
I am thankful.
Also, due to my being a cross between stressed .. (sis somehow "tricked" me
into everything but turkey and dessert for Thursday..), and excited (I close
on a new home tomorrow, of all days..<g>), I may be in and out of our
"Wednesday, it must be Wisconsin" chat. Have a GREAT turkey day with your
family and friends!!

Have a great trip you guys! Wish I was going with! My daughter is heading for France and Germany for a month in about 2 weeks, wish I was going there too.
Of course, the sweet little dear (?) won't do any digging into our Germany genealogy for me while she is there. I should have taught that girl better.

Hello:
Today marks my 4th year as the Pierce County WIGenWeb Project coordinator. When I took over in 1997 there were only a few queries online. Four years later and I can honestly say the site is beginning to be what I had envisioned for it.
The 1880 Federal Census is nearly complete, only a few more pages to go on the last township. When it is complete, all censuses encompassing Pierce County from its inception in 1853 to 1900 will be online. 1910 should be close behind with only $40.00 more dollars to go.
There are complete BMD, Land Patent and Naturalization indexes and most of the Declarations of Intent, as well as all the known, unpublished tombstone transcriptions. There are also several early histories covering the area.
Who knows what the next four years will bring! Hopefully lots more data. At least as long as I can type.

It has become clear in the last few weeks that porn (and perhaps other)
sites have adopted a new wrinkle to attract traffic. When a domain is not
renewed, they buy into the redirect some how which dumps people into a
pornographic site. The following link which was a Chamber of Commerce site
link now goes to something called EuroSlut. This page does have a line near
the bottom about being able to purchase this domain. A word of warning if
you try out this link, in Netscape anyway it immediately spawned several
more windows I had to kill as well.
Please be extra careful about checking your links. Some link checking
programs are not going to realize a link now going to a porn page is not
what you intended so you may need to hand check links as well. I do not
think a single CC or SC in our project wants links to porn sites on their
pages but with this new tactic it has become possible for them to sneak on
to your links <sigh>
Please feel free to pass this message on wherever it may be pertinent
including outside the project as this is not just a problem for USGenWeb
sites.
