Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
We can't, cause its one of USGenWeb's rules for one, and for another reason, this is a World Wide Web and as such the information is available to anyone all over the world and in the wrong hands could be used for nefarious purposes.

Hi Rita,
I find this really interesting. I personally have tried very hard not to
put any info online that pertains to living people. I am also working very
closely with the Washburn Co. Register of Deeds, who is allowing me to put
the indexes of the births, marriages and deaths online, directly from her
books. I made that above statement to her and she looked puzzled and asked
why I would worry about such a thing, since anyone could walk into her
office and view that same information -- it is public record and as such,
she felt that it would be okay for me to put all of the indices online.
So just give me a few years to accomplish this, since I'm starting from the
beginning...

Sorry for the delay everyone, this email was on this PC, the pics on
another at work.
Anyway, announcing a new page/site for your enjoyment and/or use.
A collection of mostly postcard views but some photos from various states,
7 so far. These are
mostly pre-1920 views.

If you can assist with the identity of the Mineral Point photos, I'd
appreciate it.

Another BIG BIG Thank you to Joan Benner who has contributed the Marshfield
Voters 1893... Caution, only WARD 1 is up, with notices on the other 5
wards...
Since there was no 1890 Census, this is the next best thing... Remember it is
only listing those people who voted... So, see, it pays to VOTE now if you
want your ancestors to find you in another hundred years (hee hee hee)...
URL is:

Again, Thanks Joan,

And I want to thank all of you for motivating me with your nifty websites!
So, I started decking the halls early this year...and I found a volunteer
"Nick" in Florence area to help with obits...so all is well in Florence

A big thank you to Sandy CISZEWSKI, for our newest pages at WoodCoWI. She will
be transcribing the surnames off an Atlas 1909 Plat Map, for each township...
So Far, only Cranmoor Township is completed and on-line.
Check it out at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/history/Atlas1909/
It is linked under the history pages...
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/links/his-link.html
Remember, only Cranmoor Township is completed. Stay tuned for more good
transcriptions from Sandy in the near (or not so near? grin) future.
Again, THANK YOU Sandy!!!

Hi everyone,
Mary Ann Hetrick, State Coordinator of COGenWeb, has put together FTP
Tutorials at the following address
http://freepages.computers.rootsweb.com/~ccmahoni/html/index.html
They discuss AOL FTP, CuteFTP, and WSFTP LE, all popular FTP programs.
I offer this link to assist the recent concerns regarding AOL, and to
provide an avenue of alternative programs.
Yell if you need help! I am familiar with WSFTP, and others on the
list may be familiar with CuteFTP. I guess the general consensus is
that AOL FTP is lacking <g>.
