Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi - Thanks to Marcia, Joyce, Betty and Char- I now have MANY obits for
Marathon County. I am starting to enter current obits for Lincoln County, and
Betty Martz has kindly offered to enter current obits for Marathon County. I
certainly appreciate the work that has gone into sending in these obits. I am
thinking of changing my config system so that anyone can enter the obits and
biog, instead of forwarding them to me. (Hopefully in the near future this
will get changed!)
I certainly want to thank all those listed above for your help.
PLEASE SEND ME ANY OBITS, BIOS, AND QUERIES,(
Marathon County WIGenWeb
)YOU MAY HAVE FOR YOUR ANCESTOR - and check out the new GenConnect
pages.
I also was given a new list of material that Sharon Karow of Merrill has and
it includes quite a bit of Marathon County, miscellaneous info of other
counties, and of course, lots on Lincoln County. Check out the Lincoln county
lookups page. Lincoln County
Wisconsin WiGenWeb AND SEND YOUR OBITS, BIOS AND QUERIES!
I was just nominated for the Palmer Award. This award was created to
recognize the volunteer efforts of the County Coordinators in the USGenWeb
project.. But if it weren't for all the help and the response I get from all
of you, this would not have occurred. ( I haven't had time to enter the award
on my Marathon County page yet - but soon!)
I am the caregiver for my almost 90 year old aunt - and I spent most of
yesterday in the emergency room and today she is having surgery for a cracked
hip. So I will fall behind on keeping up with these pages for a while, but
will get all taken care of soon.
Thanks again to all of you---
Shelley

Marcia et al,
Another thing you can do with Surname Helper is get your personal
genealogy site indexed. That way, anybody looking for your surname(s)
will not only pull up any GenConnect queries that have that surname, but
they'll also pull up your site!
Cool, hunh?

I am new at the GenConnect, but want to share this side benefit with those
other CCs which might be using another system.
You can link your county to the Surname helper, like this:
Surname index page:
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp-bin/surindx.pl?site=WIWOOD
Just change WIWOOD to your county.
Site surname search page:
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp-bin/srchsite.pl?site=WIWOOD
Again, just change WIWOOD to your county.
You can use this regardless of what Query System you currently are
utilizing. Just another tool.
If you wish to see how to set it up on your pages, check either WIWOOD,
WIPORTAG, WIMARATH, or WILINCOL... As Shelley and I both have links.
I really like GenConnect because it frees me up to do other genealogical
endeavors.
If anyone knows how to reset the SURNAME HELPER pages, please let me know...
I have older queries which I would like to get into the system...

The State Coordinators and Assistant State Coordinators of each
Region will receive a ballot to elect a State Coordinator
Representative.
The County Coordinators of each Region will receive a ballot on
which they will vote to elect two (2) County Coordinators for their
Region. If a County Coordinator is a County Coordinator in more
than one Region, they will vote in each Region in which they host a
county website.
We will be using voter software called UseVote. UseVote will send
an acknowledgement to the voter for each ballot received.
Votes must be cast from the email address that the ballot was
sent to.
The voter software will not accept "Write-in" votes.
You may vote YES, NO and ABSTAIN. Voting ABSTAIN will not
affect the outcome of the election.
The position of each candidate on the ballot was determined by
random drawing.
