Hi Margie
I checked Yount's Wayne Co. Cem records for Elijah Waters, nothing, then
looked at the 1860 Ind Census, and only one Elijah 2 years old in
Vandenburg Co., There are a few Waters families in Wayne Co, in 1860's
and in Cemetery records but there again, no real evident connection.
I've looked at Quaker records also and he didn't seem to be a Quaker
either. Bear in mind there is a Willard Lib in Evansville with great
genealogy group, and very many records. This is a private library, and
has a membership of probably 100 members. If you go on the net and look
for Evansville, and then Willard that should give you access to this
source. I'm sure someone has done death records in that area. Let me
know if you need more info for access to this. There are books in Ind.
State Lib, and in Ft. Wayne done by the WPA in the 30's on birth,
marriage and death records for Wayne and Henry Co's, but I don't have
access to them out here in Calif. Since Wayne Co is on the National
Road, many people kept on moving west from there, next was Henry Co,
then Hancock, then Marion (Indianapolis) so I looked in each of those
co's in 1860 too.
