researching Jefferis, Kerlin, Sands and Stidham in Wayne County.
To Fellow Wayne Co. Researchers,
I wanted to share something I have found very helpful. If you have
access to the old Wayne Co. histories, you know they are not indexed. I
got a wonderful book through interlibrary loan that helped solve that
problem. Nancy Newby's Wanye County Indiana Index of Names of Persons
and Firms in 3 volumes indexes 20 different sources, from the general
histories and memoirs to histories of Newport, Cambridge City,
Centerville, etc. I could not take the 3 volumes home, but could used
them in my library's reference department for several weeks. I'm sorry
that I didn't write down the call number for the book, but I requested
it with just the title and author. I also requested the Lewis Starr
History of Boston Township, Wayne Co. Indiana, through interlibrary loan
and they made me a copy of this 11 page book at no charge!
Good Luck,
Kathie
