Linda,
The Wayne County library has obits that date back to the early 1800's,I use
them often, they are even in a card file so all you have to do is look up the
last name that you are searching.
Here is an address for the Wayne County News letter it will help you with
the other questions about Historical Soc. and Genealogy Soc.
http://www.waynet.wayne.in.us/
You just have to search the page and click on where you want to go.
Hope this helps.....Good Luck.
P.S The Cambridge City library (Which is about 15 miles west of Richmond)
has a good
selection of material. They are only open on Tuesdays from 2 - 4, or by
appt.

Subject: Research in Richmond
Can anyone tell me the name of either the Historical Soc. or
Genealogy
Soc.
in Richmond? I was there YEARS ago and would like to visit again,
but
can't
remember where it was or the name of it. I would also like to find
out
what
the hours are, how to contact someone to see if they will be open
when I
can
come, and what type of materials they now have to research. When I
last
visited, there was not much that was catalogued -- just kind of a "dig
through" effort, but they had quite a bit of material.
