Dear Linda,
I live two counties from Wayne in Montgomery County, Ohio and my husband's
paternal ancestors are from Fayette and Wayne Counties.
Visit the public libraries in both Richmond and Connersville, the Wayne
County Historical Museum and the county vital records in both counties. The
names of Fayette County veterans from probably every war line the interior
walls of the Fayette County courthouse - be sure you check that too just in
case.
If I can be of any help since I know the area, feel free to email me
privately. I try to go over there every couple of months.

Hi All --
Am planning a trip to the Wayne Co. area, end of April and would like to
know where the best places to research might be. Our ancestor Mathias
Dawson was in Fayette Co. as early as 1811 (Waterloo Twp) and was in the
area until the early 1830's. I believe he may have lived in the part of
Fayette Co. that later became Wayne, as one of his sons, born in 1820 was
said to have been born in Wayne (which became a county in 1819). I can't
plan an extrensive research trip, but would like to know where is the best
place to look for research for the 1810-1830 time frame.
Appreciate your advice.
