My thanks to Karen Clanin for all the wonderful STEVENSON
information. My interest in the STEVENSON is because of my great
grandmother Sarah STEVENSON. She was born in 1823 and according to
the census, in North Carolina. She married Samuel HOGUE in 1843 in
Wayne county, Indiana. I really would like to locate her family. My
major clues to this point is a land sale from Samuel STEVENSON to
Samuel HOGUE AND the 1830 census record showing Samuel STEVENSON with
a daughter under 10.
And while I am on the subject of the HOGUE family, Samuel HOGUE had a
sister Lucy PAXTON who lived in Dublin. In tracking her children, I
came across an interesting anomaly yesterday. I was checking the 1920
census for Wayne county and in particular Jackson township. Ancestry
indicated that Dublin was in township 148 and there were numerous
pages for Dublin. The 1900 census had Dublin in district 146 again
with many pages. Then you get to 1910...Dublin is now in district 172
with 9 pages only with one partial page. Can any one help me with
this? I am looking for Alice PAXTON and her brother
Alpheous/Allen/Alfred PAXTON. I found them on the 1900 and 1920
census but not the 1910. Puzzling.
