I have been trying to find out some info on my Grandmother Davis's side
of the Family. My Grandmother Davis was married to Harold Monroe Craig
on 8 July 1906, in West Alexandria, Preble County, Ohio.
I do know that her parents were Darius and Elizabeth (Cooper) Davis.
Darius and Elizabeth were married in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana
on 10 April 1870. It was not until recently that I found out that Darius
Davis was born there in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana on 22 July 1847.
AND ...... I also stumbled on to the birth of one of their sons, who was
named after his father Darius Martin Davis. The son Darius, was born
there in Richmond, Indiana also. His birth date was 18 May 1873. This
info
was found on the LDS Family Search Site.
I was wondering, since I now know that the Davis Family was living in
Richmond, Indiana long enough for Darius to be born, get married, and
to start a family of his own, if there wasn't someone here on the list
who might be researching these Davis's also. I know ..... Davis is a
REAL
COMMON NAME. And there are probably lots of Davis's that have lived
there in Richmond. All the more reason to think that there still might
be some of that Davis family still living there today. Now the kicker
is,
are the descendants of that Davis family Practicing Genealogists ????
Is someone researching that branch of the Davis tree ???? I sure would
like to know who Darius's father was and his father, and his father and
ect. The same with the Cooper's. The females are really hard to track.
Early ones were never listed in the Census, when they got married, their
names change. So if you did not know they got married, or who they
married ..... see, you've lost them already. But, I suppose I'm
preaching
to the choir here.
Anyway, if anyone on the list here has info on any of these Davis's,
please get in touch with me. On or off the list; it doesn't matter. Just
let me know you're out there !!!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
