The Hinshaw book for NC Quaker records is available from Genealogical
Publishing in Baltimore, MD for $75, and the first two volumes of Heiss
Indiana records which cover Wayne Co and Salem MM in Liberty IN are now
available from the Indiana Historical Soc in Indianapolis for about $50
each. Many left NC headed to Whitewater MM in Wayne Co, and while they
may be listed as heading there, many actually ended up settling in other
meetings as they arrived in Indiana. This started about 1806, and then
just exploded, many ended up in Salem MM in Liberty, Union Co, IN and in
Milford MM in Milton, IN which is on the very south end of the county a
few miles south of Cambridge City. If your looking for Wayne Co people
that is a good place to start looking and many of the original Heiss 7
volumes done from 1966 on are in the LDS libraries under Society of
Friends. The Hinshaw data for PA, NY, VA, NC and 2 volumes on Ohio are
available for $60 on a CD from Family Tree Maker, and is the best buy
since it has also an everyname index for all the volumes. My ancestors
are among those who came to Salem MM, and then to Dublin, IN in 1830. Of
course their cousins, and all also came along and everyone is married to
cousins. The cemetery records compiled by Beverly Yount are fantastic
referances too. She seemed to have known who all these people were
related to. These 4 volumes were available from the Allen Co, Library in
Ft Wayne IN for a while, I don't know if they are still available now,
as I bought mine in 1975. If your looking for possible Quakers in Wayne
Co these are the best sources.
