It looks like you're back researching our Sutherland line again!
You may have seen this already since you mentioned 'Tombstone Inscriptions
in Wayne County Indiana by Andrew W. Young, but I wanted to send it in case
it's something you don't already have. -Kay, FL
ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CEMETERY
This cemetery is located in East Germantown (Pershing), Wayne County,
Indiana, north of the National Road (Rt. 40). Very good condition. It is in
conjunction with the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church which is the oldest
Lutheran congregation in Indiana having been organized in 1822. Two acres of
ground were purchased at that time at a price of $11.00 per acre for a church
building and a burial ground.
The first church was a small log structure. A brick church was erected
near what is now the center of the present cemetery. It served as a church and
a parochial school. It was erected in 1833 and remodeled in 1860. A
completely new church was built in 1900 at a cost of $8,000.00.

Subject: Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for information on the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, and
possible gravestone photos. The cemetery is not listed on
findagrave.com
or under the Wayne County Genealogical Society website. But John, Rosanna,
and Mary J. Sutherland are all listed as being buried there according to
"Tombstone Inscriptions in Wayne County, Indiana" by Andrew W. Young, Vol.
III. Does anyone have any information on this cemetery?
Thanks,
Jan in Ohio
