On a recent visit to Richmond I photocopied the Foster Obituaries from
micro film. I have transcribed them below. I have tried to keep the
spelling the same as in the original but you should not assume
correct. If you find something you are interested in I encourage you to
get a copy of the film and see for yourself.
Finally, I have added a few comments before some of the entries. These

MRS. DAVID FOSTER DEAD
Her Funeral Took Place at New Paris, on Monday.
New Paris, O. Feb 28 The funeral of the late Mrs. David Foster, of
Indianapolis, took place here on Monday afternoon at the home of her
sister, Mrs. Wm. Whittey. The deceased had been sick for some time. It
was her request to be brought here. The decedent leaves a husband, one
son, three daughters and hosts of relatives and friends. Relatives were
in attendance from Indianapolis, Centerville, Muncie and Richmond. Rev.
Hershey of the Methodist church, conducted the funeral services.
Interment in Spring Lawn.

The funeral of Mrs. D. W. Foster will be held at 2 oclock Sunday
afternoon at Tabor cemetery in Boone county. Services were held
Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist church.

DR. JAMES FOSTER, 50, FORMER RAIL OFFICER HERE ENDS HIS LIFE
Dr. James T. Foster, 50 years old, medical examiner for the Pennsylvania
railroad at Columbus, Ohio, and stationed here until five years ago,
ended his life in his room at Columbus, Ohio, Saturday by shooting
himself through the head with a revolver.
Dr. Foster served the Pennsylvania railroad here for a period of 14
years, from 1908 to 1922, when he was transferred to Columbus, Ohio,
where he took charge of the emergency hospital at the railroad shops
there, a position which he was holding at the time of his death.
While here, Dr. Foster was a well known member of the Richmond Country
club and of the Richmond lodge of Elks. Dr. Foster was born in Belfast
Ireland, and is survived by two sisters who still reside there.
The body was brought to Richmond and taken to the Pohlmeyer, Downing and
Weifer undertaking parlors, where funeral services will be held Tuesday
afternoon at 2 oclock in chare of the Elks lodge. Members of the Elks
lodge will meet at the club house Monday night at 7 oclock to proceed
to the undertaking parlors to view the remains. Friends may call at the
parlors any time.

David W. Foster Dies at 91 Years
Services Tuesday At Lawler Chapel
David William Foster, age 91, a former Lebanon business man, died this
morning at 7:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. H. Horner,
2460 North New Jersey Street, Indianapolis. His death was sudden and
was caused by coronary thrombosis.
Mr. Foster was born in Boone county, a son of George and Matilda (Smith)
Foster, both natives of Indiana. He lived on a farm until 1890 when he
moved to Lebanon where he engaged in the grocery business thirty-five
years. In 1913 he moved to Richmond and for the past seven years has
resided in Indianapolis. He was married April 7, 1880, to Ruhamah
Sullivan, who died June 3, 1925. His second marriage was in 1926 to
Clara Dean, who passed away December 31, 1944.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been a member of the
Masonic order more than sixty-five years, joining the lodge in
Zionsville. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite.
Survivors are for children, Kenneth G. Foster and Mrs. Jennie Horner of
Indianapolis, Mrs. Maude Anderson of Oceanside, Calif., and Mrs. Electa
Hawkins of Richmond; fourteen grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren. One grandson, his namesake, Lieut. David W. Foster
of the Air Corps, lost his life in England on December 29, 1944, and two
grandchildren are in the service, Marlow Hawkins who is in the U.S. Navy
and Cynthia Ann Hawkins who is a Cadet Nurse at Reed Memorial Hospital,
Richmond. One daughter, Emma Foster and two sisters, Cynthia White and
Kitty Leap, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will he held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the
Harold B. Lawler funeral home where friends may call. The Rev. O. A.
Cook of Indianapolis will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Tabor
cemetery at Fayette.

David William Foster, 91 years old, former local resident, died
Saturday, April 14, at the home of his daughter, Mrs Morris Horner in
Indianapolis.
He was a resident of Richmond for 25 years and formerly was in business
here.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Marlowe Hawkins of Richmond, Mrs.
Lewis Anderson, Oceanside, Calif., Mrs. Morris Horner of Indianapolis;
14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Foster was a Scottish Rite Mason and had been a member of the
Masonic order for 65 years. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be held Tuesday at Lawler's
mortuary at Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Tabor.
