I think it was jobs that attracted people to Indianapolis. I can say that
Marion County was also a magnet drawing people from Warren and Allen
counties in Kentucky as well. My father was from there and nearly everyone
who left that we knew went there - with the exception of my dad and his
sister and mother, who ended up 100 miles east in Dayton, Ohio - where
nearly everyone there came from Eastern Kentucky. These migratory patterns
are interesting.

If some subscribers to this list are looking for relatives, another

county to check might be Marion Co. I've spent the better part of the
last two weeks looking at one branch of the William and Jane BROWN's

in Marion Co. The coincidence of same surnames prompts this question for
long-time Wayne Co researchers:
What might have been an attraction in Marion Co that drew children of
the early settlers to that county?
Or is it as today, children were "called" to the city (Indianapolis)?
