Some time when WW I was going on, they renamed the town Pershing, but now
for more data, I'd also contact the Cambridge City library which is only a
mile west. There is a lot in Beverly Younts Wayne Co, cemeteries that might
be important. What exact name or line are you looking for? I have the
cemetery books on hand. Obituaries would also more likely be in Cambridge
City newspapers.
As to the Huddleston House, well they are mostly in to providing an 1840's
experience to diners, in the John Huddleston house, my great grandfathers
uncle. There are also two plat map atlas's for that area, 1875ish, and I
think 1892 which I also have if they had farm land. City directories if any
might be also in Cambridge City. The 1872 history of Wayne Co, has some
data, but not much on Germantown. I have so much in my own file, so write to
me directly huddlstn(a)antelecom.net, and I'll see what I can put together for
you.

Contact the Morrison-Reeves library as has been recommended already. They
have an index card file for people mentioned in the Richmond, IN newspaper,
mostly obits. I found good references to my family members as well as
stories about where they worked/lived. I also borrowed the Richmond, IN
newspaper on microfilm via my local library inter-library system and read
the columns mentioning events occurring in the town where they lived.

Thanks for all the good responses to my query about Germantown.? This
is
the East Germantown that I now see on the atlas.? I just bought an IN
Atlas and Gazetteer on July 4th at a booksale.? I'm not in Indiana, so
this is going to help with the townships.?
I will have to try to write to that Hudddleston Huddleston Farmhouse Inn &
Museum as they have ?one of those homes for one?I am researching,? (Martin
Funk), namely the ?Martin Funk-Johnson House.? I already tried googling it
without too much success.? Is there any e-mail or address for them for out
of staters???
I'd be curious as to what newspaper ran in that area.? It sounds like it
started out as a German speaking area, which was the PA Dutch language
that all those who settled there that I am researching originally
originally spoke.? But perhaps they eventually had an English language
paper? Or would any county wide paper have covered this area?? I would
?like getting the microfilm and reading the film from front to back since
I have so many relatives who settled there.??
