Subject: [WAYNE_IN] Old Cambridge City papers now online and searchable
Yes, the Germantown I was looking for more on is the one east of Cambridge City.? And that
turned out to be a very important point!? Because I found in Ancestry that they have a lot
of old Cambridge papers, and it had a lot of coverage of the people I've been
seeking.? Obits, reunions, visits, even visits taken back in PA with some long lists at
times. Other times it is only a brief mention, or a "miss hit"?on a similar but
different?word. ?Only problem is that I don't have an Ancestry subscription, but I
could still pull up enough of these articles to get the "jist" of some, and may
get a full subscription after the summer is over, and I can work more on the approximately
100 articles of this extended family?I found for the late 1800's and early 1900's
just in this Cambridge paper alone.? If anyone wants to check you can enter
"Cambridge" in the place the newspaper is published in the Ancestry newspaper
database and your surname or given name too if you want to limit it fu!
r!
ther.? No need to even have a subscription.? You should see enough to
know whether it is about the person you want or not. However, if the surname you are after
is a commonly used word, this won't work.? For example "White" would pick up
every word "white", not just people with that surname.? So then you are out of
luck. Or have to pull up every single reference it pulls up and sort out the few ones that
would be to the surname.
