Sharon,
I can explain my bunch. The Shirleys, Whites,Pipers, were all
married into each other.
A Shirley killed a Piper brother inlaw (My Line),Shirley escaped custody
hiding in the back woods and the rest of the families floated in years
later. But after reading the county statements, I am reminded of "Ma & Pa
Kettle " stories or The Kentuckians". When the city got too big they m,oved
on to more rural area.

Subject: Re: Starr & Shirley Family Researcher
I find it really strange that the Starr and Shirley families migrated
to
Johnson Co., MO. I am researching the family of John Allen Landess who
married Lovinia J. Bowman in Wayne Co., IN and they also migrated to
Johnson
Co., MO. What is even stranger is that several family groups I am
researching also migrated to Johnson Co., MO in the 1800's. What were
they
giving away in Johnson Co., MO? Gold Nuggets? There is nothing
there. A
friend in the Air Force says that Whiteman Airforce Base is in the middle
of
nowhere. It is still a rural community like it was along time ago.
For those researching Starr and Shirley there are alot of hits when you
search for both names on the Johnson Co., MO website at
www.rootsweb.com/~mojohnson/
They have a very large website with lots of entries.
Happy Hunting
