Frank, thanks for the information. Thomas was their first child, and
he is my gggGrandfather. He married Mary Hastings in 1828 at West
Grove MM. AFter that, I believe most of the family departed from the
Quaker Faith; my gg Grandfather, Elisha Townsend, was a soldier in the
Civil War, and so he apparently was not an active member of the Society
of Friends. BTW, I live in Salt Lake City and am embarrassed to
admit I have only been to the Family History Library one time. Looks
like I will have to break down and make a day of it!

Kim,
I have a copy of a book entitled "Abstracts of the Records of the
Society of
Friends in Indiana - Volume 1". It contains information about the
Whitewater Monthly Meeting. James and Rosanna and their children,
Thomas,
Rachel, Celah and Charlotte are shown in the section containing birth
and
death records. West Grove Monthly Meeting was formed from Whitewater
in
1818. Unfortunately, West Grove information is contained in a later
volume
that I don't have. I recommend that you visit your local LDS Family
History
Center to see if they have (or can order) the later volume. You can
also
contact Dr. Thomas Hamm at Earlham College in Richmond. Google will
locate
him for you. Good luck.
Frank
