I wasn't sure if I should reply to this query or not. I did hear from E.
Patience Northern and wales-gen (I think), so I guesss all of the
messaging, at least to me, seems to be working.
I am hoping to travel to Cardiganshire in the next year or so as I
have discovered
that I have ancestry in Lledrod and Bettws Bledrws!

I will try a message. My question is this. My mother’s family name
is
Coomes. There are many other spellings of the name. A lot of researchers
believe they all are Combs related. In Wales which of the following are
most common? Combs, Coombs, Coombes, Cooms, and Coomes.
Our family legend is this, “Capt. Coomes brought his family to Baltimore,
Maryland. He sailed back with more people but was lost at sea. We do not
have his name ot the name of the ship. A son was born, James Tucker Coomes,
about 1812, as listed in the 1820 Baltimore census. This son later went in
search of his father but didn’t find him. He is my grandfather. I am
trying to
learn in what area this spelling is most often found.
Thank you,

due to email being sent in HTML, Rich Text, or MIME rather than in Plain
Text. Before we were switched to the new list software, the mail servers
would endeavour to strip out any HTML from a list message and send the
plain text on to subscribers. When the HTML could not be stripped out,
messages were held in an administrative folder for review. It seems that
is no longer happening.
