There were two small notices in the Plymouth column. (The different
spellings of the surname come directly from these articles.)
"Last evening, at 6 p.m., Mrs. Eliza Gwilym, aged 70 years, mother of
George Gwilym, the insurance agent, died suddenly, of heart trouble.
She was a lady highly respected in the community, and the news of her
death caused much sorrow. The funeral will take place on Sunday
afternoon, from the residence of her son on Main Street."
"The funeral of Mrs. Eliza Gwillim, aged 70, mother of George Gwillim,
will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. S. Hancock will
officiate. She leaves five adult children - Mrs. Eliza Bishop, of
Mountain Ash, Wales; Thomas Gwilliam, Abercarne, Wales; Mrs. Mary Ann
Durbin, of Shamokin, Henry Gwillim, of Taylorville, and George Gwillim,
of Plymouth. She was a native of Tredegar, Wales, and resided in
Plymouth for 14 years."
